CANTON – The Mass Titans and Boston Knights played to a 5-5 tie on Thursday at the Canton Ice House, the two sides opening game of the 2019 Sr. Chowder Cup.
Coming off their tournament victory at the Pre-Draft Showcase in May, the Titans continued their New England Pro Am strong play as they scored five goals in their first period of play at the Chowder Cup. Jon Raffin, Ian Wilson, Joe Noone – twice – and a shorthanded score for Mike Tersoni put the Titans on the board.
It was a slower start for the Knights, but in the end they did match the Titans. Sean Malone and Joey Falso scored in the first half to make it a 5-2 game at the halftime break. The Boston offense kept churning for another three goals in the second half, while netminder Trevor Lally and the Knights’ defense kept the Titans at bay, securing the 5-5 final.
Boston’s Jake Hoadley led the contest in scoring with two goals and two assists. Noone paced the Titans offense with a three-point showing; two goals and an assist.
