Deke Dangle sneaks in a win versus CD Brockville.

FOXBORO – Deke Dangle Select Black’s run through the through the preliminary round of the College Open division at the 2019 Sr. Chowder Cup came to a close with a win on Saturday morning. They snuck in a late goal to defeat CD Brockville Red 6-5 at the Foxboro Sports Center.

The game’s first half started as a tie and ended as a tie as the two sides matched each other with four scores aside in the opening 25 minutes. A pair for Jonathan Hippen and one each for Leo Renlund and Jake Stapert accounted for Deke Dangles’ four, while Ryan Glazer – two times – Alex Mellon and Jack Chiarello were responsible for matching things up on Brockville’s side of the scoreboard, sending the game to halftime tied 4-4.

Hippen completed his hat trick at 1:22 of the second half to return the lead to Deke Dangle, but the game became tied again just around the midpoint of the second as Glazer’s third made it 5-5.

It had been a quiet tournament up until this game for Hippen – no points in the first two games – but the forward made for one final performance. He added his fourth goal of the game – and final of his game-high five points – at the 20:51 mark to break the tie and secure the 6-5 victory for Deke Dangle.
