CANTON – Day 3 of the 2024 Chowder Cup at the Canton Sportsplex began with a Rapid Hockey Development win on Saturday morning. They defeated BJR (Red) 5-2 in Jr. A division play.
Rapid wasted no time in beginning their quest for victory, Mathieu Goldenberg notching the first of two in the game in the opening minute to give his side the early lead.
That lead grew to 3-0 as Goldenberg scored again and Sam Renaud added one before BJR began to chip away at their deficit. Braden Amidon and Jack Guagliano each with a tally to get BJR to within one at the halftime break.
It remained 3-2 until near the midpoint of the second when Renaud scored again to extend Rapid’s cushion. Goaltender Richie Popson locked things down the rest of the way in the Rapid net and Joe Feinberg iced the game with an empty-netter late that brought about the 5-2 final.
