Petrowski wins an offensive affair with 5B.

FOXBORO – Petrowski Hockey Group took home the Elite division win on Saturday evening at the Foxboro Sports Center. They did so by doubling up 5B Selects (Red) 10-5 on the final day of preliminary round play at the 40th annual Chowder Cup.

There was no time wasted for the offensive affair to begin. Of the 15 goals scored in the contest, 12 of them came in the first half.

It was 5B that took the game’s first lead on an Anthony Bonacorso goal 2:32 into the contest. George Besarick then scored a pair as the opening half neared its midpoint, tying the game and then giving Petrowski a lead they never relinquished.

A lead that grew to 9-4 by period’s end. With the decision all but settled, Petrowski netted two more in the second, while 5B netted one to bring about the 10-5 final.

With 10 goals scored in the contest, the Petrowski lineup was not short on stellar performances. Besarick (2G, 1A), Max Karionov (2G, 1A), William Doherty (1G, 2A) and Cameron Gaffney (3A) led the way, each contributing three points in the effort.

Ryan Smith led 5B with a two-goal outing.
