Militia downs Essentials in 2nd half explosion

FOXBORO – It was the tale of two halves for East Coast Militia Green and Hockey Essentials Black on Friday at the Foxboro Sports Center. After defenses dominated in the first, it was all offense in the second half as the Militia came away with the 6-3 win.

The scoring was minimal in the first half and did not come until late, only an unassisted tally by the Militia’s Tucker White a 19:39 making its way to the score sheet. It was six minutes into the second the fun began when JD Dietrich drew the game back to even, 1-1, scoring the first of a combined eight goals in the half.

The Militia regained their lead as they scored a pair of goals to make it 3-1, but as before Essentials once again drew even, tallying a pair of their own. Just 17-seconds after the equalizer, however, the Militia regained their lead a second time, and this time for good, on the fifth of the tournament from Brenden Van Riemsdyk at 20:22

With three goals in the final five minutes, East Coast closed out the 6-3 win. Van Riemsdyk and Tyler Drevitch each put up a three-point effort in the win, both credited with two goals and an assist. Dietrich was credited with all three tallies for Essentials, while Kyle St. Denis was credited for the win in net for the Militia.
