FOXBORO – The GBL Bruins have claimed the top prize at the 2019 Sr. Chowder Cup. They defeated Quebec Prospects 2-0 on Sunday afternoon to take home the Jr. A Division championship.
As expected from the two final teams in the tournament, the contest was difficult for both sides and the chances were few. The Bruins scored at 8:13 for the 1-0 advantage. They were in the lead courtesy of Grady Friedman and controlled the flow of the game throughout, but the scoreboard was never safe.
The Bruins were not able to get any sort of space in the scoring column until the closing minutes of the game when a length of the ice clearing bid went into an empty net to make it 2-0.
Quebec was on the power play the final minute of the contest, giving them a 6-on-4 advantage with the goaltender pulled, but could not break through. Bruins netminder Connor Hasley kept the door closed to preserve his shutout and the Jr. A Division championship at the 2019 Sr. Chowder Cup.
