FOXBORO – After an undefeated run to the Jr. A Elite Division title at the 2014 Chowder Cup, the 2015 trip to Massachusetts got off to a much different start for Wildcats Elite. They dropped their tournament opener 6-3 to Quebec Prospects Thursday afternoon at Foxboro Sports Center.
After playing the first half to a 2-2 draw, the Wildcats took the next step towards a tournament-opening victory when Glenn Florczak gave the defending champs the game’s next lead with his score at 3:05 of the second half. Yet, rather than propel the Wildcats, Florczak’s goal spurned Quebec, who went on a four-goal run to more than seal the victory.
Maxim Pitre’s goal at 7:58 of the second drew the game back to even, 3-3, before a pair from Stephen Seeger gave Quebec the lead for good at 4-, then 5-3. Jonathan Desbiens then closed the door on the win with the last of his game-high four points (1G, 3A), bringing the score to its 6-3 final.
