CANTON – The Eastern Ontario Hawks arrived at the 2018 Sr. Chowder Cup and made quite the impression with their tournament start. They routed Competitive Edge 9-0 on Thursday at the Canton Ice House.
Eastern was all over the score sheet early and often from the drop of the puck, including a pair of goals in the game’s opening minute. Jeremie Payant and Samuel Lacroix with the goals at 16- and 47-seconds, respectively.
Four more times the Hawks were back on the board in the game’s opening half, including a pair of shorthanded scores. Despite the comfortable 6-0 cushion, they got right back after it in the second half with three more to pad things up to the 9-0 final.
All told, eight different Hawks were credited with points in the contest, five of which were on the score sheet with multiple entries. Payant (4G, 1A) and Lacroix (3G, 2A) led the assault with five points apiece. Mateo Turrin (1G, 1A), Janick Lacroix (1G, 1A) and Zack Labbe (2A) also had multi-point showings.
Brennan Nadeau posted the shutout in the Eastern Ontario net.
