BRAINTREE – Edge Hockey Skills held off a second half rally by the Valley Jr. Warriors to notch a 3-2, College Open victory on Friday at Thayer Academy.
The scoring started early, but was minimal in the game’s first half. A Max Tong goal less than three minutes into the game gave Edge a 1-0 that lasted until halftime.
Matt Welch made it 2-0 at 12:34 of the second half and from there Edge Hockey went to work holding off the Warriors. Dom Delgrosso made it 2-1 at 16:52, before Zach Smith re-established the two-goal cushion with his score at 22:29.
Mac Ward had a late goal to get the deficit back to one, but Joe Ianucelli kept the door closed from there from the Edge Hockey net.
