Townshend rallies past Eels

BRIDGEWATER – With a furious finish, Townshend Hockey Selects opened their preliminary round College Open division slate at the 2015 Chowder Cup with a 4-3 victory over the Florida Eels on Thursday at the Bridgewater Ice Arena.

They won in the end, but it was not a good start in the defensive end for Townshend as they fell behind 3-0 in the first half. Matthew Rokosh, Kade Kaminski and Tyler Poulin all got their name in the score column in the opening 25-minutes for the Eels to account for the lead.

Thankfully for Townshend, there was still 25-minutes left to be played and it was in the second half their offense finally broke through. Misha Ventura, who ended the contest with a game-best three points (1G, 2A), started the comeback rally when he got Townshend on the board at 12:07. Alex Heinritz followed suit at 13:12 and then Kyle Shero got the equalizer at 18:42, both goals coming on the power play.

With the comeback complete, Nick Frangos put Townshend over the top with a late game-winning goal. The final score coming at 22:32 of the second half to give Townshend the 4-3 win.
