CANTON – Threes aside did the trick for the TC Prospects as they posted a win on Day 2 of the 40th annual Chowder Cup. They defeated the Tropics 6-3 Friday afternoon at the Canton Ice House.
It was strong start to the game for the Prospects. They scored twice in the opening minutes and thrice in the first half of the opening period. It was looking as though the game would go to the intermission with TC leading 3-0, but a late, shorthanded goal by Mikal Strauss put the Tropics on the board.
The score remained at 3-1 until near the midpoint of the second when Strauss scored again to get the Tropics back to within one. Just a few minutes later, two quick strikes from Joey Roberge – first at 15:10 of the second (on the power play) and again at 15:55 – gave TC back their cushion and some insurance.
Trevor Berg scored just before the final horn to close out the 6-3 victory.
