ATTLEBORO – A second half comeback fueled a tournament opening victory for SHC’s Jr. A squad on Day 1 of the 2024 Chowder Cup. They rallied to defeat North River Hockey 5-3 on Thursday afternoon at New England Sports Village.
In order to rally in the second, SHC had to fall behind in the first. They did so courtesy of a Nick Vinson goal. The lone goal of the first half that gave North River a 1-0 halftime lead.
Vinson added another in the second and was joined in the scorer’s column by teammate Ethan Brochu, but it was in the second half that SHC also found their scoring groove.
The victorious offense exploded for five in the game’s later frame to first catch their opponent, and then leave them behind the wrong end of a 5-3 decision.
Gio Rhoads lead the charge with a pair of goals, with the other SHC tallies credited to Garrett Cerda, Evan Roy and Nick Reif.
Ayden Pierce was credited with the win in net.
