WALPOLE – Saving their best for last, the Jr. Ropes came away with their first win of the tournament on the final day of pool play at the 2025 Sr. Chowder Cup. They did so with a second period rally to top HTI Stars 4-3.
HTI came out strong with two goals in the game’s opening five minutes, which included a shorthanded goal from Bryson Bolvin. By the time the frame ended, HTI led the contest 3-1.
Though their foe had command of the scoreboard, the Ropes stayed in the game and took it over in the second.
Much like HTI did in the first, the Ropes scored twice in the opening five minutes of the frame – also including a shorthanded goal, this from Ryan Burkett – to draw the game back to even.
Special teams also played a factor in the game winner. The Ropes earned a late power play and with just three minutes remaining in the contest Stanley Blake Whiteman netted the 4-3 game-winner on the man advantage.
Whiteman had an earlier assist to go along with the game-winner. His two points leading the Ropes, as well as tying with Bolvin (2G) as the game’s top point getter.
