Open Net trounces Tribe.

CANTON – The Open Net Foundation closed their preliminary round of play at the 2019 Sr. Chowder Cup with an exclamation point on Saturday morning. They posted a 10-0 victory over Tribe Black at the Canton Ice House.

While it ended in a different fashion, the game was relatively close through the opening half as the Tribe went to the break with a manageable 3-0 deficit in front of them. Yet, as they closed their preliminary round slate with a punctuation, Open Net did the same within their final contest, absolutely exploding in the game’s final half.

Seven times the victors struck in the frame to make it a runaway. Drexel University’s Matt Crane doubled his goal output from the first half as he dumped in another pair in the second for Open Net to finish with a game-high four goals and four points. Pat Meckel did the same as he scored his second of the game in the second. Michael Sofia, JT Zangara, Austin Meyers and Elliott Schon each also chipped in a goal to solidify the round closing route.

JP Thomas was responsible for posting the shutout from the victors’ goal cage.
