Braintree, Mass. — Michigan Legacy never let North Grind Hockey Grey build momentum, responding to every challenge and adding two second-period goals to earn a 5-2 victory Saturday at Thayer Sports Center.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
Michigan Legacy opened the scoring at 6:01 of the first period when Anthony Pipia (#66) found the back of the net.
North Grind Hockey Grey answered just 45 seconds later as Nick Marcella (#10) scored at 6:46 with an assist from Theo Singleton (#11) to even the game at 1-1.
Michigan Legacy regained the lead late in the opening period. Nick Brandow (#91) scored at 15:46 off an assist from Jacob Flanders (#12) before adding his second goal at 19:19. Emiliano Romero (#13) and Nolan Williams (#14) earned the assists, giving Michigan Legacy a 3-1 advantage heading into the intermission.
Michigan Legacy extended its lead early in the second period when Williams (#14) scored at 9:18.
North Grind Hockey Grey cut the deficit to two at 17:52 as Brady Bowen (#27) converted a setup from Mackinaw Archer (#18) and Marcella (#10).
Any hopes of a comeback were short-lived, however, as Cole Berlin (#22) added an insurance goal at 24:57 to seal Michigan Legacy’s 5-2 victory.
