Foxborough, Mass. — Momentum swung back and forth throughout Friday’s matchup before US Express Grey Elite scored the final three goals to pull away for a 5-3 victory over Corners Hockey White Elite at Foxboro Rink 2.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
US Express Grey Elite opened the scoring at 9:42 of the first period when Braden Franck (#75) finished a play set up by Aiden Ferreira (#16) and Tucker Mears (#50).
Corners Hockey White Elite answered at 13:40 as Jack Copponi (#15) found the back of the net off an assist from Evan Regan (#2), but US Express Grey Elite regained the lead just over two minutes later. On the power play, Mears (#50) scored at 15:54 with help from JJ Murphy (#3) to make it 2-1 heading into the intermission.
Corners Hockey White Elite came out strong in the second period, drawing even just 1:06 into the frame on Liam O’Keefe’s (#10) goal before Aiden MacIsaac (#43) converted a power-play opportunity at 9:37 off a feed from Luke Pazzia (#99) to give his team a 3-2 advantage.
US Express Grey Elite answered midway through the period when Nikita Konevych (#4) tied the game at 16:10 with assists from James Reilly (#9) and Mike Sandruck (#23). Mick Keogan (#48) then put US Express Grey Elite back in front at 19:19, finishing a play created by Connor Boulay (#10), before Sandruck (#23) added an insurance goal with 42 seconds remaining, assisted by Nick Peragine (#26), to seal the 5-3 victory.
