Huskies take College Open’s Red vs. Blue battle.

FOXBORO – Three games, three wins, a combined score of 11-1 and a trophy.

It was a good day for the NW Huskies, and one that ended with a College Open Championship by virtue of a 4-1 victory over Dukes CDHL on Sunday at the 2018 Sr. Chowder Cup.

After a 5-0 win over NextGEN AAA Hockey in the quarterfinals and a 2-0 win over CD Brockville in the semifinals, everything was going the Huskies’ way in the tournament’s playoff round. A fact that did not changed as they entered their final contest of the tournament.

At 4:19, off a face-off win Daniel Colabufo ripped a shot that clanged off the post and in for a 1-0 Huskies advantage. It was then a pair of slick moving passes that tripled that lead.

First was Elijah Devereaux feeding Jack Moore at 11:57 and then Will Arquiett sliding the puck to Tommy Bannister at 17:37 to put together the near insurmountable 3-0 lead.

The Dukes did not yield despite the deficit, eventually converting on a 5-on-3 power play goal by Logan White at 24:04, but that was not before Devereaux – the game’s only multipoint getter – deposited an empty net goal at 23:09. Those final scores adding up to a 4-2 College Open Championship for the Huskies.
