ATTLEBORO – GRADS Hockey Blue took home the Jr. A division win, 3-1, on Thursday when they met the Boston Jr. Whalers at on the opening day of the 2022 Sr. Chowder Cup.
GRADS turned a 1-0 lead after the first half into a 3-0 advantage early in the second with goals coming from Sam Barrett, Luke Holyfield and RJ Schmidt.
A power play goal by Colin Petty near the middle of the second got the Whalers on the board, but their comeback extended no further and the game ended at 3-1.
With a goal and an assist apiece, Barrett and Schmidt finished as the game’s only multipoint scorers, while Chazz Nixon was credited with the win in the GRADS net.
