Former Knight accomplishes hockey first.

Any single one of them are an accomplishment that would mark a successful hockey season. The three of them added together, however, combine for a first ever in the game of ice hockey.

Until this winter, never before had a player played in the NCAA national tournament, the Olympic Winter Games and the NHL’s Stanley Cup playoffs. Not a bad stretch of months at all for former Boston Knight – and 2015 Sr. Chowder Cup alum – Jordan Greenway.

Greenway’s 2017-2018 season began in September, his Junior season playing for the Boston University Terriers. Over the course of 36 games played for the Terriers this winter, Greenway tied for the team lead in points, totaling 13 goals and 22 assists for 35 points; all three of which were career-highs.

His time with the Terriers was interrupted in February when Greenway took a short sabbatical to PyeongChang, South Korea. There, Greenway added a little blue to the traditional red and white sweaters of Boston University as the Canton, NY native suited up for the United States at the XXIII Olympic Winter Games. It was something of a disappointing showing for Team USA at the PyeongChang games, though Greenway was one of the brighter spots along the way.

After the closing ceremonies, Greenway returned to BU, finishing the year by helping the Terriers win the Hockey East Championship and advance to the NCAA national tournament. Greenway and the Terriers fell just short of a trip to the Frozen Four as they lost a 4-2 decision to the University of Michigan in the Northeast Regional final on March 25.

The very next day, however, with the college season over, Greenway signed with the Minnesota Wild, who had drafted the 6’6” winger in the second round (50th overall) in 2015. The day after that, Greenway made his National Hockey League debut on March 27 in a 2-1 loss to the Nashville Predators.

Greenway then completed his season-long hat trick on April 11 when he made his Stanley Cup playoffs debut, credited with an assist in Minnesota’s 3-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets in Game 1 of their Western Conference Quarterfinal series.
