Fast start paces Kanata Stingers win.

FOXBORO – Drawing their stint at the 2018 Sr. Chowder Cup to a close, the Kanata Stingers did so with a win on Saturday night. They notched a 5-2, Jr. A division win over the Northern Vermont Wildcats at the Foxboro Sports Center.

When they took the ice, the Stingers were still in search of their first win of the tournament, so they took the ice storming in their pursuit. They were on the Wildcats early, Jack Ludwig scoring the games first goal at 3:35. Spence Van Tiem made it a 2-0 lead for Kanata just over five minutes later.

A power play goal by Bobby Batten at 10:36 put the Wildcats on the board, but did not swing momentum in their favor. Kanata still had two goals left in them before halftime, tallies coming from Vincent Nardone and Felix Dufour.

Northern Vermont was first to score in the second half, an unassisted goal by Ryan Reifler at 6:38. Their 4-2 deficit, however, was as close as they ever made the score.

Van Tiem netted his second of the game at 16:44 of the second half, capping off the 5-2 final. He was also the game’s leading scorer with a three-point night (2G, 1A).

Ludwig (1G, 1A), Dufour (1G, 1G) and Graham Denomme (2A) also had multiple point showings. Victor Desjardins and Cedric Joubert split the goaltending duties for the victors.
