FOXBORO – CWE is no stranger to strong showings across the years at the Chowder Cup. They started off the 40th edition of the tournament once again on strong footing as they defeated the South Shore Kings 6-3 in College Open play on Thursday morning at the Foxboro Sports Center.
The game was tight, and the scoring was low through one half. CWE amassing just a 2-1 advantage through the game’s opening frame before scoring took off in the second.
South Shore tied it out of the break before CWE went on a run of four straight goals to take back their lead and put the game away. Jeremy Lavoie, Logan Vigneault, Chris Giguere and Anders Forrest did the scoring to put CWE ahead, before the Kings bookended the scoring in the period to close out the 6-3 final.
Forrest had a goal in the first to go along with his goal in the second to finish the game with two, while teammate Laurent Daudelin had a pair of assists to join Forrest as the game’s multipoint scorers.
Joseph Wright, Cam Sylven and Preston Casassa were each credited with a goal for the Kings.
