Cape Cod Opens 2017 Chowder Cup with Win

CANTON – New England Pro-Am Hockey’s 2017 Senior Chowder Cup is underway. The first game on the docket was scheduled for Thursday morning at the Canton Ice House, which ended a 3-1 win in favor of Cap Cod Hockey over the Boston Jr. Whalers (Orange) in Jr. A Division play.

It was Cape Cod in the end, but the Whalers at the start. Boston forward Noah Carlock breaking the scoreless tie with a goal at the 10:55 mark, assisted on by Justin Cruickshawk, It was the only mark of the first half for a 1-0 Whalers lead that carried through the intermission.

Cape Cod turned it on right from the start of the second half, drawing the game back to even just over two minutes in, Bryan Connoly making it 1-1 at 2:09. He got his team the equalizer and then the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal as Connoly scored again at 11:11 of the second half to put the Cape up for good at 2-1.

Jack Conway then put away an unassisted tally at 20:27 to bring the score to its 3-1 final in favor of Cape Cod.
