Attleboro, Mass. — After nearly two periods of scoreless hockey, Buzzards Bay Elite CO broke through in the closing minutes and scored twice to secure a 2-0 victory over Little Rhody/DMV White CO on Saturday in Senior Chowder Cup action.
Both teams battled through a physical opening period that featured several penalties but no scoring opportunities converted, sending the game into the second period deadlocked at 0-0.
With time winding down, Nick Gardula (#23) finally broke the stalemate with a goal to give Buzzards Bay Elite CO its first lead of the afternoon. Just over two minutes later, James Caruso (#7) added an insurance marker off an assist from Chace Johnson (#3) to put the game out of reach.
Buzzards Bay Elite CO finished with two unanswered goals in the final minutes to earn the shutout victory.
