FOXBORO – On the second day of New England Pro Am Hockey’s 2017 Sr. Chowder Cup, Little Rhody Hockey Club picked up their second victory in their second game. This victory a 3-2 win over Eastern Elite Hockey in College Open play, Friday morning at Foxboro Sports Center.
Playing the game at opposite ends, Eastern Elite got things going early, John Barrett starting the scoring just 4:22 after the opening face-off. Eastern’s 1-0 advantage lasted deep into the opening half, but Little Rhody managed to sneak in the equalizer just before the buzzer. Tyler Bourque credited with the score to make it 1-1 with just 25-seconds before the two teams retreated to their dressing room for intermission.
Matthew Toner and Noah long were credited with the assists.
In the second half, it was Rhody’s turn to get things started, Matthew Tartaglio putting his side up 2-1 at the 8:10 mark. It was a lead Eastern Elite did not let last long, a power play goal from Jackson Ross bringing the score to 2-2 at 12:55.
After opening his side’s scoring late in the first half, Bourque returned to the score sheet later in the second. This time feeding John Conway for the score and Rhody’s final, 3-2 advantage. The game-winning goal coming at 18:37.
Both Bourque and Ross were credited with a goal and an assist, leading the game in scoring at its only multipoint scorers.
Patrick Gribbin and Curtis Briggs combined in net for the Rhody win.
