Walpole, Mass. — Boston Jr. Rangers appeared to be in complete control after carrying a three-goal lead into the second period, but Prestige Hockey Placement answered with five consecutive goals before the Rangers rallied late to secure a 6-5 victory Saturday in Senior Chowder Cup action.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
Boston Jr. Rangers seized the early momentum with three unanswered first-period goals. Nick Kondub (#19) opened the scoring off an assist from Luke Kondub (#24) before Linus Boman (#94) doubled the advantage. Later in the period, Tim Sullivan (#3) finished off a setup from Kyle Hart (#18) and Griffin Halecki (#48) to send the Rangers into the intermission with a 3-0 lead.
Prestige Hockey Placement flipped the game after the break, rattling off five straight goals to take its first lead of the afternoon. Antoine Poirier (#59) recorded a hat trick during the surge, while Julien Ouelett (#63) scored twice. Raphael Michaud (#7) assisted on each of Prestige Hockey Placement’s first three goals to help erase the deficit and put his team ahead 5-3.
Facing their first deficit of the game, Boston Jr. Rangers answered immediately. Boman (#94) netted his second goal of the contest to cut the lead to one before Brady Leonard (#12) tied the game with help from Cody Marchand (#25).
The Rangers completed the comeback later in the period when Griffin Halecki (#48) buried the game-winning goal off assists from Sullivan (#3) and Hart (#18), lifting Boston Jr. Rangers to a hard-fought 6-5 victory.
