Walpole, Mass. — Seven goals filled the scoresheet before the first intermission, and Blue Falcons Elite’s final tally of the opening period proved to be the difference in a 4-3 victory over Valley Jr. Warriors Blue on Friday.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
The scoring started almost immediately when Nathan Matthews (#8) gave Valley Jr. Warriors Blue a 1-0 lead just 1:41 into the contest. Blue Falcons Elite answered two minutes later as Giancarlo Sears (#5) found the back of the net at 3:57 before Lincoln Moriarty (#17) put his team in front at 7:20 off an assist from Jack Murphy (#6).
Blue Falcons Elite kept the pressure on as Max McDonagh (#14) extended the lead to 3-1 at 8:34. Valley Jr. Warriors Blue responded with back-to-back goals late in the period from Gianluca Garippo (#6) at 16:48 and Cody Lines (#13) at 17:48, erasing the deficit and knotting the game at 3-3.
With the opening period winding down, Blue Falcons Elite found the go-ahead goal. Sam Rubinshteyn (#11) scored at 22:51 off another assist from Murphy (#6), restoring the lead before the intermission.
Neither team found the scoresheet in the second period despite several penalties and quality scoring chances. Blue Falcons Elite’s defense protected the one-goal advantage the rest of the way to secure the 4-3 victory.
