CANTON – BGP Selects (Royal Blue) came through with the Jr. A division win on Friday when they defeated the Ottawa Icemen 4-2 at the Canton Ice House.
Ottawa struck first, but BGP struck late in the opening half. The Icemen’s Cole Robitaille was credited with the game’s first goal at 16:15 of the first. BGP then struck in succession down the stretch, goals from John Rodgers and Aidan Calhoun sending the game to the locker room with BGP leading 2-1.
The 2-1 performance was repeated in the second to bring about the game’s 4-2 final. Joshua Langford scored the second of the game for the Icemen, while Rodgers struck again as well and teammate Sean Boltin scored his first of the tournament to round out the BGP victory.
Goaltender Austin Nowak was credited with the win in BGP’s net.
