ATTLEBORO – The 2024 Chowder Cup’s Battle for Supremacy in the Union’s Smallest State ended in a draw on Friday at the New England Sports Village. Little Rhody/DMV and the Rhode Island Rebels skating to a 4-4 decision in Jr. A divisional play.
It was looking good for the Rebels as the game drew towards its halftime intermission. Trailing 2-1, Evan Barbosa struck twice and Ty Carroll once in the last 1:30 of the opening frame to send the Rebels to the locker room with a 4-2 advantage.
Despite giving up the late rally, Little Rhody was not deterred when the team’s returned for the second. Noah Jimbo closed the deficit with a score at 9:04 of the second. Tomas Aubut-Lavin then netted the equalizer – his second score of the contest – with 4:44 remaining, bringing about the 4-4 final.
Barbosa had an assist to go with his two goals for a game-high three points in the contest.
Aubut-Lavin (2G) and Jimbo (1G, 1A) led the Little Rhody attack, each credited with multiple points.
